India has a road network of over 4,689,842 km in 2013, the second largest road network in the world. Some important road network in India are -
(1) Golden Quadrilateral
(2) North South Corridor
(3) East West Corridor


Golden Quadrilateral:
The Golden Quadrilateral is a highway network connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. It is one of the largest highway project (5,846 km) in India and the fifth longest in the world. The project was launched in 2001 by Atal Bihari Vajpayee under the NDA government, and was planned to complete in January, 2012. This project is managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MORTH).

North–South and East–West Corridor:
It is the largest highway project of India. It consists of building 7300 km of four/six lane express ways connecting Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Porbandar and Silchar. The NS–EW project is managed by the National Highways Authority of India under the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways.
Only National Highways are used in the two corridors.

North–South Corridor (4,000 kilometres):
